ExperienceI've taught high school math for 15 years and received excellent reviews from students and supervisors.
I've also been a college English instructor since 1990. On that level, I've taught everything from Composition I & II to junior/senior-level writing courses, not to mention various literature courses like Introduction to Fiction and Fiction to Film. I've always 21 received excellent reviews from students and colleagues.
I always wanted to be a teacher, and I have helped over 2,500 students from six continents and all walks of life. They have ranged in age from 14 to 62.
Because I've taught high school math (six kinds of classes) and college English (eleven kinds of classes) for so long, I know what it takes for students to get into and survive college. These days, only 25 to 30% of the American public has a four-year degree. I can help students acquire college-level study skills.
I've always loved teaching, but I've loved tutoring even more. Tutoring is teaching on P90X! :) Ideally, learning is highly personal and individualized. Tutoring allows for students to ask as many questions as they like, and to truly develop their curiosity, so that they can overcome their obstacles and achieve what they truly want to achieve. It prepares a student for college and/or life.
I am happy to talk. My number is 913.515.4307. High school and college students welcome, as are home schooling groups!
HobbiesI love to read, write, run, lift weights, and help friends. I'm always into something new. Last summer, I did volunteer work in Joplin, MO, after the tornados struck, and this summer I planted a garden and helped a friend open a business on Shopify. Life is all about learning, growing, and developing--not to mention good family and friends.
